What do they do:

Universal manufactures single station weight training machines, multi-station weight training machines and a free weight line. Universal products are used in schools, colleges, health clubs, YMCAs, hotels and resorts, hospitals, sports medicine clinics, multi-housing units, employee fitness centers and private homes. Universal equipment is also the choice for many police, fire and city recreation departments, official Olympic training centers and professional sports teams.

Universal serves customers nationwide as well as internationally. Universal has equipped national Olympic training centers in 20 countries, including two elite Olympic training centers in the People's Republic of China. Universal is a major supplier of fitness equipment to foreign military and athletic groups as well as foreign-based U.S. Military.

Why are they unique:

• Universal started the fitness revolution in 1957 with the development of the first weight training machine. This machine incorporated several exercise stations into one unit allowing users to train in a circuit. The unique weight key system allowed users to easily change the amount of weight resistance.

• Universal was the first to introduce the Aerobic Super Circuit-a total body conditioning regimen that combines aerobic exercise and weight training in one workout.

• Universal was the first to analyze the complex mechanical forces involved in body movement. This led to the development of Universal's patented Dynamic Variable Resistance, which maximizes conditioning benefits.
